Based near Brisbane, Australia, Alex Louisa mainly works with oils, PanPastel and watercolour, but she also loves to experiment with new materials.

Her work focuses on elements of the natural world that grab her attention. Birds have always been her favourite subject (even her first word was "bird!"), but she also enjoys creating interesting still life compositions and landscapes.

Alex has exhibited through the US and Australia, and she teaches workshops to pass on her love of her favourite materials.

Alex runs a step by step easy to follow workshop giving demonstrations on each part of the process in her relaxed informative style. Very welcoming atmosphere with great light for painting.
Highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in creative exploration.

This was my first attempt at doing a largish watercolour painting, so I wasn't sure how I'd manage.

Alex is very good at breaking down the process into small pieces and she explains everything well.

I went home with a piece of work that I was very happy with.

As a participant in Alex's Intro to Pan Pastel workshop I had a fantastic time! The venue was light and inviting coupled with a very talented tutor creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Alex is an excellent teacher whose instructions are easy to follow. I learned the basics of using watercolours and can now continue to practise.
The venue is fabulous and the workspace was set up well.
When I've played with watercolours enough to do more I'll certainly do a follow up class with Alex to paint a kookaburra, magpie or something else.

I thoroughly enjoyed ever aspect of the class. Alex made everyone feel welcome and relaxed. As a newbie to watercolor painting, I was excited to learn about all the different techniques and I really think Alex's program was amazing and I now have some tangible proof of great techniques which I am definitely going to practice. As an aside, one of my practice cards on the night, which I felt totally missed the plot, upon showing to my daughter, she became so excited and said it would look fabulous printed on textiles.
(Please assure Alex she is under no threat from me.)
Alex is a fabulous artist, but also a natural teacher.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and have already highly recommended it to family and friends.
