Want to create a show-stopping pottery piece that will take pride of place on your table for your next dinner party? Join this pottery workshop today!
During this four hour workshop (there will be a 15 minute break for tea / coffee / biscuits), you'll be working with 2 1/2kgs of clay to create a gorgeous platter that you can display and serve food on (clear glaze will ensure that end product is food safe).
Choose one from these platter sizes (due to kiln sizes): - 50cm x 25cm wide. So a long narrowish shape. This is the maximum to touch the kiln shelf.
- 30cm x 30cm wide. This is the bottom of your piece that is sitting on the kiln shelf so you gain a flat surface for your platter to sit on.
If you have a particular design / style / inspiration in mind (we love out of the box ideas), please contact us to see if we have an ideal mould available for your construction.
You'll be working with coloured slips (which are like glaze) and clear glaze on stoneware clay, which will then be fired at 1220 degrees.
This class is great for those who have already done our clay experience workshop, but if you've had a little experience elsewhere, we're open to you joining us in the platter class.
Come alone or with a group, either way, you'll have a blast. We foster a relaxed and laidback creative environment, often with music playing (mostly 80's) and even a resident chicken (Jacquie-O), who often comes to say hi to everyone!
Please note:
Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class;
in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
Some experience preferred but if you're an ambitious beginner - we're game if you are!

- All tools, 2.5 kg's clay, coloured slip 'glaze', firing.
- Tea and coffee - although Fonzie Abbot is just across the road for a proper caffeine hit!
- Four hours of expert teaching and guidance from studio owner, Jude, who has been honing her craft and talent for the past four decades.
- You can pick up your finished pieces a few weeks (could be up to four weeks) after the class as we need to allow this time for the kiln to fill up and your pieces to be fired twice. Your pieces will be food safe.
An email will be sent when your wonderful creation is ready to adorn your dining room table.
- Old clothes or an apron
- Closed-toe and slip-proof shoes
- No jewellery
- Hair tied up
- But most importantly - bring your imagination, we know you've got a tonne of amazing ideas in you!
