What you'll do

Immerse yourself in creative jewellery making one day class in Perth where you'll craft your very own unique 2 pairs of earrings from start to finish. In this 7-hour workshop, you'll learn how to design and create different styles of like studs, long dangly earrings, or threads using prefabricated materials

Craft your own unique 2 pairs of earrings with provided tools
Create your own shape or textures to find your style, from studs to hanging earrings
Choose from a selection of stones, beads, and pearls to personalize your designs

No prior jewellery-making experience is required, making this class perfect for beginners. With a maximum of four participants, you'll receive personalized instruction and guidance from our professional jeweller, ensuring you get the most out of the workshop. You'll have your own workbench and access to real jewellery manufacturing tools to unleash your creativity.

This is a Beginner Course, no need to worry lots of help available. Extra time can be booked for the individual at extra costs.

What you'll get

Throughout this class, you will learn what a real jeweller’s bench looks and feels like

Designing and creating a concept first
Using prepared shapes
Soldering parts together and working with a mini/little torch
Learn to make ear hooks
Making large freeform flat jump rings
Making a round wire ring -- using professional ring stretcher
Some filing and sanding with emery paper
Finishing your work with different tools and techniques
Stones will be set by jeweller

Please note that all materials are charged separately. Beads/stones/ear nuts environmentally friendly recycled and new Sterling Silver is individually priced. Also metal will be charged. Calculate around + - $125.-, and please pay cash on the day.

The workshop is temperature controlled

There is a 2 hour break you are able to go locally for lunch.

Course starts at 10 am until 1.30pm

Continues from 3pm to 6.30pm

Hello my name is Petra. I am trained goldsmith and, now retired, jeweller with more than 40 years in the industry. While working in the industry my jobs varied from designing collections to opening several workshops for some big jewellery chains in Australia.

There is a difference between a goldsmith, who is hands on, and a jeweller who uses finished parts to create their work. Today you also have CAD design via computer-generated 3D models. The materials costs for this are lower and the final product has a different finish compared to a handcrafted piece.

With technology taking over in many ways, the old ways can get forgotten. I have been asked many times "can you teach me?" so I have set up my workshop to have you beautiful people come and give traditional hands-on jewellery-making a go.

The courses are around 4 to 6 hours plus, some day times some evening times and some Saturday all day classes.

The classes will range from creating unique bracelets’, simple bangles, rings in various styles, commitment/wedding ring classes for lovely couples, earrings from studs to drop earrings, brooches and neoprene jewelry necklaces with handcrafted beads or thick trendy neoprene bracelets. But I will start slowly, so keep checking.

Standard tools will be supplied, however any stones/ beads/ findings/ metals material used will be charged extra.

I am happy to teach you how to create some timeless pieces. From beginners to advanced, there is success to be had by you, all you need is patience and the willingness to give it a go because working with Sterling Silver and Gold and beautiful Pearls/Stones is the best feeling ever….see you soon.
