Gorman Arts Centre’s historic 1920s Main Hall, flanked by courtyards with magnificent heritage-listed Hawthorn trees, offers a family-friendly venue ideal for creative workshops, music and dance classes, photography, yoga and wine tastings.

History:
Built in 1924 as a hostel for the first public servants in Canberra, it was established in 1981 as a dedicated Community Arts Facility. Gorman Arts Centre is now a multidisciplinary arts centre, home to creative studio artists and arts organisations, in the heart of the city. Even though it is just a stone’s throw from Canberra Centre, it is a quiet oasis, where innovation thrives in our unique heritage venues.

Getting here:
Getting here is easy, with bus stops on our doorstep and free parking at weekends. Gorman Arts Centre has wheel-chair accessible entrances to the main buildings, accessible toilets and accessible parking options.

Occupancy Loading: 97 people
Resource inclusions: 64 padded chairs, 4 flip-top tables, 1 whiteboard and a small kitchenette (sink, dishwasher, microwave and fridge).
Floor: 110 square metres, polished recycled timber floors. Suitable for barefoot or soft shoe dancing. Power: 240V power is available throughout the hall
Lighting: large pendant and LED lights.
Sound: The hall has a surround sound system and 8-channel mixer
Heating / Cooling: reverse cycle air conditioners, ducted heating and ceiling fans
