What to do on a leap year day is not something you think about every year. In fact, with the exception of leap year babies - or leaplings - there’s no real reason to celebrate it at all! But as mentioned above, do you really need a reason to celebrate? With so much creative freedom and no traditional leap year activities to confine the type of festivities you can have, February 29th is your oyster. So why not branch out and get a little colourful with one of our more artistic Sydney workshops?
Don’t water down your leap year, watercolour it! Acclaimed international artist Etienne Cohen runs a Watercolour Workshop for all and her Saturday sessions are coming straight to you this February 29th! Specialising in creating a warm, welcoming and kid-friendly environment, Etienne will show you how to create beautiful watercolour works using images you bring yourself. All you have to do is figure out what you would like to paint, bring the source materials, and learn to colour your canvas silly. Etienne’s classes are small and max out at six participants to ensure that you can spend your February 29th getting the attention your painting skills may need. There’s also complimentary soft drinks and nibbles, so you won’t even go hungry!
If you’re hoping to get messy this leap year 2025, our Assemblage Art Class is perfect for that too! Assemblage art is the combination of several mediums, including drawing, painting and collage, and using them together to create a uniquely colourful visual feast for the eyes! But don’t worry, you’ll have an expert artist on hand to make sure you get the most out of your mess. You’ll cover techniques to help you balance textures, materials and colours, as well as image transfer techniques to make sure that although it’s messy fun, it’s not a messy outcome!
