What you'll do
The Flow Hiveâ„¢ has revolutionised backyard beekeeping and opened up beekeeping to enthusiasts around the world. This 5.5-hour workshop is designed for total newbees (sorry!) to beekeeping who are thinking about getting a Flow Hiveâ„¢, or have one sitting in their garage unassembled and don't know where to start. We'll cover everything from what to order, how to assemble it, where to put it, and how to get your first bees. It's the PERFECT time to start your beekeeping journey as there's lots of flowering and you've got time to get your head around these fascinating and important pollinators. This is a very hands-on workshop where you'll taste honey from different floral sources, suit up and visit Hamish's bees, get to look at several built Flow Hives in Hamish's apiary, and open one up for a standard inspection. You'll walk away with enough information to confidently start your beekeeping journey. Hamish also offers a hive building, management, and mentoring service so you will be able to keep developing your skills beyond this initial workshop. Hamish is a Flow Hive ambassador and is an enthusiast for these hives. This is an all-weather activity as Hamish has several of his hives undercover.

Whether you want to get started in beekeeping or have a hive and need some help managing it we can help with all stages of your beekeeping journey. Alongside our more formal workshops, we run Australia's most highly ranked "experience" where you can hear about the fascinating life of these pollinators, taste honey and then suit up and get into the hives for some memorable photos. Our head teacher, Hamish Ta-mé, started his beekeeping journey as a teenager and has been deeply engaged ever since. Alongside his years of experience, Hamish has formal qualifications in beekeeping and teaching.
